Mild asthma frequently presents with prolonged coughing much to the surprise of many of my patients. Somewhere in the family history of medical problems there are usually family members with asthma or patient risk factors such as cigarette smoking. Therapy should be started using inhaled or oral medication under physician supervision. The undertaking of asthma and treatment has improved with the addition of improved inhaled steroids, new classes of inflammatory blockers and anti-histamines. Please see the "General Therapy" section.
