The Chest Cough Swallowing Problems
The ability to swallow correctly is important. This is a
complex and automatic process. Normally solid and liquid food
pass into the esophagus avoiding the windpipe. Sometimes this
process is interrupted and a person will experience choking or
in mild or cases aspiration of food with frequent coughing. This
disorder has many causes and is mainly found in the older age
prevalent around meals and swallowing. Treatment is
complicated and beyond the scope of this site. Please see
Therapy for Neck and Chest Cough: Swallowing Problems".
