Introduction:
Coughing is a natural and helpful mechanism. Most of us will experience
coughing of a simple nature which will last about one week, most commonly as a
result of a cold or a respiratory allergy. However a simple cough which lasts up
to six weeks and longer is not unusual.
A complex cough can be a serious medical condition and can include fever,
chest pain, weight loss, shortness of breath and coughing blood. You should
consult with your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms.
Purpose:
This website provides educational material on simple coughing. Included are
unique interactive features which will allow you to research the possible causes
of coughing and medical therapies available. This site is not a substitute for
a regular medical doctor nor are specific diagnoses recommended. This site is
restricted to adults over the age of 18.
